Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Knowledge & Evidence Specialist Lead to join Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The newly created role will support working along side the Head of Knowledge & Library Services (KLS) to deliver a library and information services to all staff and students on placement. We are looking for a creative innovative proactive individual who is not shy of learning and developing in the role embracing technology and bringing fresh ideas to the table. We are seeking an individual who can lead in their work but considers the organisation and service needs and that of the KLS team before making decisions creating a happy medium and supporting the KLS culture.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have relevant professional qualification alongside proven experience in a health library environment. You will have excellent communication and customer care skills and enjoy supporting end users in locating evidence based information, including delivering training and carrying out in-depth literature searches. Key areas of the role include being the expert on LMS matters/ current awareness/ cataloguing and classifying.

The role involves the line management of staff and requires someone who can lead in the absence of the Head of KLS and someone who is there as a mentor/coach and manager when required by the team.

About us

The library service is undergoing many changes including setting up new roles and library spaces. The role will start in supporting the refurbishing and setting up of new library spaces which will be staffed Monday - Friday 9 -5pm.

To support the Head of Knowledge & Library Services in the provision of the full range of library and information services to staff and students on placement, in line with the Trusts library strategy, national accreditation standards and service level agreements in place. This role will be based at one of the hospital sites in the Black Country (Penn Hospital, Hallam Street, Dorothy Pattison or Bushey Fields Hospital site) and will require some cross site working.

The post holder will support the operational running of the libraries alongside the Head of Service and will be the key lead in undertaking complex literature searches, developing and delivering information skills programme. The post holder will support on new key developments in the trust including setting up a new institutional repository and a copyright tools and measures library.

They will be involved insupport the marketing and promotion of the services and assist in developing strategic plans and gather impact data. They will also be involved in key purchasing decision making and the evaluation of online tools.
