Job summary

An fabulous opportunity has arisen to recruit a Senior Applied Psychologist to work alongside our multi-disciplinary colleagues in Wolverhampton CAMHS Children and Young People in Care Team. You will be a key and highly valued member of the Children and Young People In Care CAMHS Team. You will be supported by a highly specialist social worker, art therapist, child psychotherapist as well as the consultant psychologist lead in providing specialist psychological provision to children and young people who have experienced early relational trauma and attachment difficulties. The work is difficult but rewarding.

The post-holder will enjoy considerable variety within their role, providing psychological input for clients and their carers through formulation, intervention and consultation, as well as using the formulation to inform the wider professional system.

Main duties of the job

The CAMHS Children and Young People in Care Team is situated with the main core team and so is fully supported. In some cases the children may work with clinicians in core CAMHS or the learning disability team in close collaboration with our team. We are supported by our crisis team and psychiatry colleagues wherever necessary.

The role of the psychologist will be to bring psychological expertise into the team and to share this with the wider multi-disciplinary team when required. There will also be an opportunity to have a trainee due to the close affiliation the Trust has with Birmingham University and the University of Wolverhampton.

  • oWorking as a qualified applied psychologist within a CAMHS service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings.
