Job summary

Sandwell LD CAMHS is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 5 RNLD to join our multidisciplinary team supporting children and young people with learning disabilities who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

Experience of supporting a similar group of children and young people and their families would be an advantage along with a passion for promoting emotional well-being through individualized approaches to care.

The post holder will be joining a passionate and well-established specialist CAMHS Learning Disabilities team and will receive regular supervision from experienced practitioners.

The assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for children and young people who have learning disabilities and mental healthdifficulties.

Managing a caseload under supervision, offering a range of clinical interventions tomeet the mental health needs of children with Learning disabilities.

To be part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides evidence based interventions tomeet the mental health needs of children with Learning Disabilities and their families.

Main duties of the job

To:

  • practice within the guidelines as set out by appropriate professional bodies
  • be responsible for the maintenance of accurate records and documentation
  • participate and contribute to service development and to ensure trust policies are adhered to
  • liaise with other agencies/disciplines to contribute to the provision of a comprehensive service for children with a mental health need and learningdisability where appropriate
  • provide support and supervision as required to students on placement
  • be responsible for setting the highest standards of care in line with clinical governance
  • demonstrate good professional practice and to be a professional role model in line with trust policies and standards
  • be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the evaluation of programmes of care
  • formulate, implement and evaluate person centred care plans in line with trust policy and standards
  • complete specialist assessments, outcome measures and care plans for specific challenges associated with child mental health and learning disability for example behaviours that challenge
  • encourage positive health education and promotion with children and who have mental health needs and learning disabilities and their families/carers to reduce ill health
  • work collaboratively with other disciplines/voluntary agencies
  • undertake risk assessments as appropriate
  • provide written and verbal reports for meetings and reviews as appropriate

  • To participate in clinical audit service evaluation and research. Initiate, assist or co-operate with research.

  • To undertake outcome measurement and evaluation of own practice through evidence based practice projects, audits and outcome measures.
