We have an opportunity within our Dudley Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for a permanent Band 7 Senior Nurse based at The Elms Health Centre B63 2UR

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team. We are an energetic and hardworking team working with children and young people from the age of 0-18.

Main duties of the job

We are an energetic and hardworking team working with children and young people from the age of 0-18. Dudley CAMHS is a fully integrated multi-disciplinary team comprising Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Family Therapists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Worker and Support Workers.

CAMHS professionals deal with a wide range of mental health problems. Many children and young people are troubled by emotional, behavioural and psychiatric problems. These can cause worry and distress both to themselves and to those who care for them. A large part of the work is to identify the problem, understand the causes and advise about what may help.

The role of the Senior Nurse will be to provide assessment and intervention to children and young people. You will need strong clinical decision making skills and be committed to improving the lives of those struggling with mental health. The successful candidate will have robust risk assessment and management skills and be able to work creatively and flexibly to meet the needs of the young people and their families.

Our CAMHS Service is a multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, specialist nurses, systemic, child and art psychotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers and psychiatrists, who are passionate in their aim to work with children, young people and their families in developing creative solutions to improve their mental health difficulties.

As a senior member of the team you will have the opportunity to offer supervision and leadership to junior nursing colleagues. You will also participate in the CAMHS Duty system supporting colleagues and families who may require support and advice in liaising with referrers.

The Nursing team is very established within CAMHS. We provide robust supervision, the opportunity to attend peer group meetings, personal development and training opportunities.

The post-holder will be joining a supportive and forward-thinking team who pride themselves on their commitment to the continual development and improvement of patient care.
