Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist with a keen interest in working with young people with Learning Disabilities. Previous experience of working in the community with people with moderate to severe learning disabilities, mental health difficulties and challenging behaviour would be an advantage.
Walsall LD-CAMHS are a specialist multi-disciplinary team who support young people and their families with a range of mental health difficulties and challenging behaviour. The successful applicant will provide assessment and treatment to children and young people with a learning disability who have behaviour of concern, mental health or sensory needs. The caseload will include a mix of OT specific and core intervention, with some demand for care co-ordination.

This job is community based and will involve visiting people within their homes, schools and other community areas.
The Walsall Learning Disability-CAMHS Team is comprised of a Clinical Psychologist, a Learning Disabilities Nurse, a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, an Assistant Psychologist and an Occupational Therapist (advertised post). We are part of the wider CAMHS and are based at Canalside in Walsall.
We are passionate about supporting our team and seek to offer opportunities to develop and nurture skills in line with CPD needs and professional interests. This post comes with a training opportunity in Sensory Integration Therapy if this is not already held by successful candidate. Clinical, managerial and peer group supervision will be available on a regular basis with a named supervisor.
