Job summary

As part of recovery of waiting lists following COVID, the Department of Paediatric Surgery & Urology at Birmingham Childrens Hospital is looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Paediatric Urologist to aid in this effort.

This post is a fixed term post, with funding available until 31st March 2024.

This is a 10PA post, focused on recovery of elective clinical activity and maximising the current resources within Birmingham Childrens Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be expected to deliver 8 PAs of clinical activity (Theatre sessions / outpatient clinics) per week including elective weekend working. The successful applicant will be allocated theatres sessions that are being relet. Therefore, there will need to be flexibility around the exact activity each week.

Where theatre sessions are not available the successful applicant will undertake outpatient activity instead.

There will also be an SPA session and a PA for administration / ward rounds within the job plan. Within these sessions the Post Holder will be expected to attend the departmental Grand Round on a Friday morning.

This post does not have an on-call commitment.

The Department of Paediatric Surgery and Urology comprises of 5 consultant Paediatric Urologists (Mr H Chandran, Mr L McCarthy, Mr A Robb, Miss R Wragg and Miss E Van der Merwe (Locum)) and 7 consultant Paediatric Surgeons (Mr S Arul, Mr O Gee (Clinical Lead), Mr I Jester, Mr A Lander, Mr M Pachl, Mr M Singh, Mr G Soccorso and Mr D Parikh (locum)).
