Job summary

Applications are welcomed from enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the established, friendly team of Paediatric Haematologists in our purpose-built haemato-oncology/SCT unit at Waterfall House, Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital (BWC).

One 10 PA post is available in the department. The post holder would provide subspecialty cover for all aspects of Stem Cell Transplant, for Gene Therapy for patients with transfusion dependent thalassaemia and sickle cell disease and subspecialty care for patients with Haemoglobinopathies.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of dedicated medical team of 8 Consultants (including this post), 10 Haematology Specialist Registrars/Clinical fellows and 3 ST2/3's. There are also 6 trained/in training Advanced Nurse Practitioners in our department.

As one of the UK's largest Paediatric Haematology departments we see a broad case-mix of both malignant and non-malignant disease and we oversee active clinical programmes in all areas of Haematology including Stem Cell Transplantation, Haemoglobinopathy,Haemostasis/Thrombosis and Haemato-Oncology.

  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Post graduate qualification MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Full and specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
