Job summary
This post primarily involves working with patients across sites, providing specialised orthodontic nursing support at Birmingham Children's Hospital, University Hospital Birmingham and further external sites as required. The post holder will be working as part of the dental team including Consultants, Dental Nurses and Administrators. The post may have a requirement to work within other Outpatient services if required. The post holder will support our Consultant Orthodontist and wider team in providing patients with a high standard of Orthodontic treatment and care as part of the West Midlands regional Cleft Lip and Palate Service. The post holder will provide pre- and post-operative dental hygiene advice to patients within the Cleft Orthodontic service and the wider Paediatric Dentistry service, and work with patients with complex medical history and needs. In addition, the post holder may carry out dental radiography, if qualified.
Main duties of the job
To effectively deliver fundamental dental care to the patients, ensuring it is evidence based and maintainedto a high standard, working in partnership with the patientand family. The Specialist Dental Nurse will provide clinical supportto our Consultant Orthodontist during Orthodontic assessments, treatment Planningand clinics. The post will also cover Paediatric Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery in their role of delivering high quality clinical services.
