Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Theatre Department at Birmingham Women's and Children's hospital. We are looking to recruit highly motivated and enthusiastic experienced Band 2 Health Care support workers to join our team working between our Laparoscopic theatre and our Liver on call team.

Our health care support workers play a vital role in providing excellent care to the children and families that are cared for within the theatre department.

Main duties of the job

The role exists to provide a multi skilled worker who under the supervision of a Theatre Practitioner supports the multidisciplinary team to provide patient centered care

As leading tertiary centre the hospital performs a wide range of acute and specialised paediatric surgery, and has a busy Emergency Department managing 60,000 attendances/year and a 31 bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. The hospital is a regional designated Trauma Centre and is proposing further service expansions.   • Maths and English Language GCSE grade C or above or Level 2 functional skills/Key skills in Numeracy and literacy)
  • Cavendish Care Certificate
  • Willingness to undertake any competencies necessary for role
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care

Knowledge and Nature of Experience

Desirable

  • Experience working in a theatre setting
  • Previous experience working with children and young people or relevant experience working in care
