Job summary

To ensure an excellent standard of cleanliness and tidiness within the ward environment, to ensure Infection Control cleaning is maintained.

To ensure efficient organisation and provision of food and beverages for patients.

To maintain stores and adequate stock levels.

To support under direction, the ward activity to enable patient flow and capacity.

To work a flexible working pattern to meet service need.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as part of the department team to ensure that an excellent standard of cleanliness and tidiness is maintained. This includes clinical areas, bed spaces, family areas and rest areas.
  • To liaise with the appropriate staff to ensure that the schedule of cleaning is maintained to meet the standards within the department.
  • To ensure that the patient bed spaces are cleaned daily and kept clean and tidy to ensure a safe environment, working with the nursing staff, child/young person and family.
  • Escalate any concerns immediately to nursing team. Situations may include safeguarding, deterioration of patients, parent/patient advice and support.
  • To ensure the routine re-stocking of clinical areas against agreed stock levels
  • To maintain and restock the linen cupboard liaising with the linen department as required.
  • To ensure that the care and maintenance schedule of all fabrics, upholstery and curtains within the department is maintained.
