Job summary
Are you the right Occupational Therapist to join our metabolic bone disease team?

Can you take on the challenge of bringing skills from your work in paediatrics into a new clinical specialty if we provide you with the teaching about the conditions?
Can you help a student Occupational Therapist to see where the model or theory in their textbook fits into a session supporting a young person planning their transition to high school?
Would you like to be part of a team that works hard to give the best care to their patients and is supported to do that by having access to training and supervision?
At Birmingham Children's Hospital we are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist who wants to join our friendly and motivated team in a static role within our metabolic bone disease team. If you can answer 'yes' to our questions above, you sound like the kind of Occupational Therapist we would like to meet.
This role offers flexibility in how and where you work. There are opportunities to work in the hospital, from home and out in the community, so if you like a work diary with variety of activities in, this could be the job for you.
Main duties of the job
The post is suitable for an Occupational Therapist with broad post-graduate experience working with children or young people in a hospital or community setting. This post provides an excellent opportunity to consolidate existing skills and expand your learning in a highly specialist area with the support of a friendly MDT.
We are looking for therapists who have strong skills in assessing needs, goal setting, intervention planning and delivery. Supported in your team by an Advanced Occupational Therapist, you will work closely with our own MDT and the community teams supporting patients. This is a highly specialised service, and we support those working in it to participate in networking with the other specialist centres. We are always looking for ways to improve the quality of our services through audit and quality improvement.
It is important in our Occupational Therapy team that people are able to achieve occupational balance, so we support flexible working, job shares and are happy to make reasonable adjustments to peoples work in order to promote their health and wellbeing as the service requirements allow.
We will also consider recruiting to a Band 5 position based on the level of experience of the right candidate.
