Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Nurse Specialist Adviser in our friendly and supportive Clinical Genetics team. We are looking for a caring specialist nurse, physiotherapist or occupational therapist with experience of working with a wide range of health conditions, to work with individuals affected by neurofibromatosis (NF) types 1 and 2 in the West Midlands.
The role is focused on providing support, information and advice for individuals and families with (or at increased chance of having) neurofibromatosis. This will include appointments with children and adults both in the community and in specialist multidisciplinary clinics. The post holder will work alongside the existing NF Nurse Specialist Adviser and work closely with the medical consultants specialising in these conditions.
Access to a car insured for business use and a full driving licence are essential as travel is an important part of the role.

Main duties of the job
The role is focused on providing support, information and advice for individuals and families with (or at risk of) neurofibromatosis.
The post holder will work alongside the existing NF Specialist Adviser and work closely with the Consultant Clinical Geneticists specialising in these conditions.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with a wide range of health conditions, knowledge of neurofibromatosis types 1 and 2, knowledge of the genetic basis of the conditions and experience of working with families.
The post can be worked hybrid between remote and office bases at Birmingham Women's Hospital. Patient and stakeholder appointments will take place through a combination of telephone/video calls, outpatient clinics and schools. Occasional patient home visits are required, too. Flexibility to travel to these will be an important part of the role.
