Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the ENT team at Birmingham Children's Hospital, by expanding the service with a 12 month fixed term contract Locum Consultant Paediatric Ear Nose & Throat Surgeon. This is a full time post, attracting 10 programmed activities (PAs). The post is based at Birmingham Children's Hospital. There is a possibility of extension of the employment period, as there may be a change within the service that would offer a substantive position.

Applications are invited from accredited specialists in Paediatric Otolaryngology who are on the Specialist Register at interview stage. Completing a sub-specialty paediatric otolaryngology fellowship would be essential.

The service provides secondary and tertiary level paediatric services for 0-16 year olds, from Birmingham and extending tertiary referrals from around the West Midlands and beyond.

Main duties of the job

The postholder must be able to manage a comprehensive range of paediatric emergencies including trauma and airway emergencies, as well as an elective programme. The postholder will participate in the on-call commitments on a 1 in 8 frequency.
