Job summary
This post is for a Band 6 midwife, preferably with 2 years experience, to work in both community and the intrapartum settings providing continuity of carer to women through an on-call service.
To work as a member of a small team of midwives providing the full continuity of carer pathway for women and their families.
Our continuity team is currently made up of 6 midwives to provide accessible and flexible care to women and families highlighted as more vulnerable through a new referral pathway in order to improve birth outcomes and address health inequalities.
Main duties of the job
1 To possess the skills to undertake midwifery care to a named caseload of women during all stages of their pregnancy and postnatal period, and to be able to facilitate and provide continuity of carer across all pathways of care to women and families
2 To provide total care to women in liaison with other team members.
3 To be responsible for the maintenance and development of her/his own clinical skills.
4 To support the development of midwifery practice and new roles within the service.
5 To contribute to and participate in multidisciplinary case conferences as required.
