Job summary

We are looking for a one-year fixed-term Paediatric Radiology Fellow to join the team at Birmingham Children's Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to pursue a career in Paediatric Radiology or Paediatric Neuroradiology. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for inclusion on the register 6 months after the interview date. Part-time applicants are also invited to apply.

The successful applicant will join a team of 15 Diagnostic Consultant Paediatric Radiologists and up to 5 Specialist Registrars within the Department. Paediatric Interventional Radiology is also provided within Radiology.

The Department has all imaging modalities on site, including two 1.5-T MRI Scanners. An NIHR-funded 3-T MRI scanner supports an increasing number of research programmes. The current Radiology information system and hospital-wide PACS was upgraded in 2021.

Main duties of the job

- Cover all aspects of Diagnostic Paediatric Radiology

- Participate in the General Paediatric on-call rota, with Consultant Cover

- Contribute to Multi-Disciplinary meetings

- Participate in medical and clinical audits

- Support all aspects of the Clinical Governance structure

- Contribute to research undertaken within the Department / Trust

The existing consultants have all developed sub-specialty interests and if the successful applicant has sub-specialty interests within paediatric radiology, then the department would support these. Candidates should discuss their particular training needs and sub-specialty interests with us well in advance of beginning their fellowship training.
