An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and exceptional senior leader with a strong background in Theatre operational management. You will have the ability to take services for our patients and carers to a new level of excellence and performance.

The post holder will hold line management responsibility and lead the operational department practitioner and nursing teams in delivering care within the theatres department.

As Head Theatre Practitioner, you will also support the Associate Director of Nursing to achieve operational and strategic objectives and have a key role in the triumvirate management team within the Group.We are looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated, and forward thinking experienced Registered nurse or Operating Department Practitioner who has developed their clinical and management skills and can demonstrate excellent leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will provide strategic and professional support to the Associate Director of Nursing (ADN) and Divisional Director. This incorporates the strategic planning delivery, leadership and management of the performance of the clinical group.
  • The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the planning of the Theatre service provided by the department is of the highest standard, based on best practice. They will provide the leadership for the senior ODP/ nurse leaders to deliver an efficient and effective service within the financial allocation.
  • The post holder will lead on the development of robust and effective care pathways that enhance the clinical care and experience of children and their families reduce length of stay and improve cross specialty working.
  • The post holder will provide a framework for professional nursing leadership through a strong visible clinical presence and leadership of the senior Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)/Nursing team.
  • The post holder will lead on the development of a clear plan to develop ODP/nurses and practices for the provision of a safe effective and high-quality care environment for children, young people and their family and carers.
