Job summary

We are seeking a talented, ambitious governance professional with our values at heart to support the delivery of a comprehensive corporate governance service to the Trust.

You will be part of a team that works alongside the most senior members of the Trust, including the Chair and the Chief Executive.

The post holder will contribute to establishing and maintaining corporate governance processes at the highest standards of probity and in accordance with all statutory and legislative requirements.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will combine an excellent knowledge of corporate governance, legislation and regulation, with exceptional communication and organisational skills.

The post holder will support the Company Secretary in providing corporate governance expertise and advice to the Board and Council of Governors, to ensure that the Trust complies with relevant legislation and guidance.

The post holder will use excellent organisational and communication skills to maintain effective structures and procedures for the sound corporate governance of the Trust and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with these.

The post holder will ensure the effective provision of governance and secretariat support and advice to the Council of Governors, the Board of Directors and their committees, including ensuring that meetings run efficiently and effectively.

The post holder will maintain statutory registers, be the first contact point for the Council of Governors and lead on Governor elections, induction, training and development.

The post holder will support the Company Secretary in maintaining a productive relationship with the Care Quality Commission, through the provision of information, regular engagement and inspection management.

The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the Assistant Company Secretary and will be able to demonstrate experience of supportive, constructive management of teams.
