Are you interested in working in a dynamic and highly valued Paediatric Psychology and Neuropsychology service nestled within a hospital setting?
We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate Clinical Psychologists with an interest in Paediatric Neuropsychology and/or Educational Psychologists with experience within Paediatric Neuropsychology.
We currently have several posts available, one of which would provide a link worker role to our Neuro-Oncology team and the other would have a focus on the provision of psycho-social support for children, young people and families who are under the care of our Epilepsy Surgery Service. There is also funding available for provision of neuropsychological assessments to children with Inherited White Matter Disorders and this could be included within the job plan of either successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
Both posts would involve:
- undertaking specialist neuropsychological assessments as part of a child's clinical care
- delivering psychologically informed psychosocial and neuro-rehabilitation interventions to support young people and their families on their healthcare journey
The post-holder would also have opportunity to link in with a number of other teams within BWCH including, but not limited to, Epilepsy Surgery, Inherited Metabolic Disorders, Acquired Brain Injury.
The post-holder would also link in with the wider Health in Mind (Paediatric Psychology) team to deliver assessments, formulation and interventions with children, young people and families across the wider Birmingham Children's hospital.
Both posts offer opportunity to contribute to consultation meetings, MDT meetings, service developments, research, attending Special Interest Groups and (neuro)psychological work with both inpatients and outpatients.

Either post could be appointed either as a preceptorship towards an 8a role for the right applicant wishing to develop from a band 7 or be appointed at 8a. Responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly
About us
The post holder will lead on the provision of neuropsychological assessments to appropriate teams within BCH. The post holder will provide psychological perspectives to psychological care planning in collaboration with other members of a multi-disciplinary team.
The post could be appointed either as a preceptorship towards an 8a role for the right applicant wishing to develop from a band 7 or be appointed at 8a. Responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly. We are able to put a full development plan in place from day one to support applicants wishing to be considered for this post as a preceptorship.
