Job summary
We at the West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory are delighted to announce that we have an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students of a Biological Science to join us for an 8-week minimum term summer internship.
This is a paid opportunity to work within our lab and is open to anyone with an interest in laboratory genetics and has completed at least their first year of a biological undergraduate degree by July 2023. This opportunity will give you an introduction to life in the lab and will provide you with invaluable work experience and a reference from a hospital laboratory setting. This role will focus on supporting key laboratory processes and will include; sample receipt and processing, white cell count and DNA/RNA quantification, and sample retrieval and storage. Throughout your time with us you will be offered competency-based training and will have access to our CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programme for further learning and development.
To be eligible for this internship you must:
Be over the age of 18
Have maths, English and science at GCSE level, or equivalent
Have completed at least the first year at university in a biological science base degree when the start of this internship begins in July and be available for a minimum 8-week contract.
Main duties of the job
The closing date for applications is Friday 26th May, with interviews on teams planned for Tuesday 30th May 2023.
