Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Management Accounts Assistant to join the Financial Management team at Birmingham Womens and Childrens Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The position is full time and will involve a hybrid model of working both from home and on site based at Birmingham Childrens Hospital. A generous and competitive study package is also available for Trust approved accounting qualifications. The post holder will be fully supported with their development in the role.

Reporting to the Management Accountant, this role will provide key financial management support to the Corporate Division. The role will ensure that accurate, timely and relevant information is provided to managers to successfully manage their budgets.

We are seeking a forward thinking, highly motivated and focused Management Accounts Assistant who is capable of contributing to and influencing the financial future of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The Management Accounts Assistant will support the financial management team with the processing of accounting information to ensure the Trusts financial ledgers are accurately maintained. This will be in accordance with the agreed monthly accounting timetables ensuring that department reporting requirements are consistently achieved.

The post holder will assist in providing valued, accurate and timely support and advice to senior finance colleagues and budget managers in the wider team.

  • Actively studying towards AAT or equivalent qualification
  • AAT Foundation Level 2/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification

Experience

Essential

  • A good level of accounting competency gained through experience
  • Full knowledge and understanding of computerised Ledgers

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an NHS environment with a Shared Service provider
  • Experience of providing accurate budgetary support to non-Finance staff

Skills

Essential

  • Must be able to communicate clearly, concisely and courteously both orally and in writing to stakeholders at all levels
  • Competent in using spread sheets and word processing applications to be able to analyse and interpret data
  • The ability to work unsupervised and organise own workload to an agreed timetable. The ability to work under pressure and deliver work to tight deadlines
  • Fully conversant with all aspects of Oracle
  • Ability to spend majority of working time using computer including a visual display unit
  • Ability to concentrate frequently and for long periods
