Job summary

Applications are invited for a full time Physician Associate in the Liver Unit at Birmingham Childrens Hospital.

The Paediatric Liver Unit is one of 3 national centres, providing a supra-regional service for children with liver disease, acute liver failure and liver transplantation. It is also one of two national centres for small bowel and multivisceral transplantation.

The unit works closely with both the transplant service at the University Hospital of Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, and the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health with close collaboration with Gastroenterology and Nutrition, and Metabolic Medicine.

The philosophy of the Liver Unit is to provide family centred care for children and their families. There is a strong multi-disciplinary Team to support this philosophy.

Main duties of the job

This post represents an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic clinical team in Paediatric Hepatology & Transplantation contributing to the on-going development of clinical services, supporting high quality patient care, managing patient flow, improving patient experience around discharge and working closely with medical and surgical colleagues in all areas to support the management of patients.

UK trained Applicants should have a degree at 2:2 level or above, hold a PG Diploma in Physician Assistant Studies from a UK training programme, hold a current and valid certification or re-certification by the Physician Assistant National Examination and must be registered with the UK Managed Voluntary Registry for Physician Assistants.

US trained Applicants must have a current and valid certification with the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and must be registered with the UK Managed Voluntary Registry for Physician Assistants.
