The GTAC has been newly established as part of a national initiative led in collaboration between NHS England (NHSE) and Health Education England (HEE). The GTAC offers a blended (virtual and/or in-person training experience) through a virtual academy hub and in-person spokes mapped to the NHS Genomics Laboratory Hubs (GLHs) and Genomic Medicine Service Alliances (GMSAs).
The GTAC is responsible for developing high-quality education and training content, mapped to professional curricula, underpinned by robust evaluation, and accompanied by assessment. This allows the GTAC to ensure both consistency of education / training delivery and tracking of progress both nationally and across the GLH and GMSA regions.
A range of media to support learner engagement will be utilised, including virtual reality and immersive learning. Education and training is prioritised initially for the specialist genomic laboratory staff, and specialist clinical genomic staff.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking to recruit a team of five education specialists to support the education groups in the GTAC Teaching Faculty. The roles are related to the following specialist areas:
1. Genomic Bioinformatics
2. Genetic Counselling
3. Clinical Genetics
4. Clinical Scientists:
o Dry Lab (data interpretation & reporting)
5. Genomic Technologists:
o Wet Lab (technologies)

- Degree level qualification or equivalent in scientific related subject
- Educated to masters level or demonstrates an equivalent level of
- Evidence of post registration continuing professional development, including training and education
- Current UK registration with the regulatory body for your profession; General Medical Council (GMC), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or other equivalent bodies such as a Professional Standards Authority accredited register
