Job summary

Are you a motivated, organised and looking for a new challenge? If so an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Nurse within Forward Thinking Birmingham and Research & Development Department.

The post holder will be an excellent communicator, be either a Adult Level 1 Sub Part 1 or Registered Nurse Children's Nurse Level 1 Sub Part 1 of the nursing register and expected to have a broad research experience with an interest in mental health. Candidates must show appropriate knowledge and skills working in a research environment, as they will also be responsible for delivering a multitude of commercial and non-commercial projects into mental health and wellbeing.

The post holder will also support Birmingham Womens and Childrens key research funded from the Biomedical Research Centre (https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/news/2022/brain-and-mental-health-research-gets-35.4-million-funding-boost) and will include working with researchers in the Early Intervention in Psychosis services, recruiting participants with early stage psychosis for a number of studies that aim to identify and test new therapeutic targets utilising clinical assessments, patient reports, genomics and discovery neuroscience.

You will need excellent interpersonal and team working skills and be capable of working independently and flexibly.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be based at BCH and Touchbase, with travel out to other FTB community hubs. The post holder will work closely with clinical, research and support staff across BWC(including FTB), as well as NIHR West Midlands Clinical Research Network staff and various academic and commercial partners.

The post holder will ensure that any research undertaken safeguards the wellbeing of research participants and is conducted to Good Clinical Practice and in compliance to the respective research protocol and UK/EU law. The post holder will also be expected to undertake criminal records check and take part in an Occupational Health Assessment.
