Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Research and Development (R&D) department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and dedicated nurse with an interest in Women's Health to join our friendly Gynaecology Research Team on a 12-month, fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

The post holder will have a primary role in supporting all aspects of research activity including recruitment, administering assessments and interventions, collecting and managing data, and audit and evaluation of research studies delivered by Birmingham Women and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. This post is ideal for someone with an interest in delivering research across a wide range of gynaecological conditions, in addition to fertility, early pregnancy, and miscarriage services.

The post holder will be expected to support Gynaecology research projects for three days a week and the Tommy's National Centre for Miscarriage Research for two days.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be based at Birmingham Women's and will be responsible for maximising recruitment into research studies within the Trust. Duties will include study setup, protocol implementation, development of recruitment strategies, data collection, and general data management for a variety of studies. The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination and maintenance of accurate, comprehensive records for clinical trial files to support the research and clinical teams in all aspects of recruitment, education, and monitoring of participants in clinical trials. They will support the development of the department by working alongside research teams to raise the profile of clinical trials.

The applicant must be an excellent communicator, will need exceptional interpersonal and team working skills, and be capable of working independently and flexibly. Previous working experience is essential. The applicant must be entered on to the adult nursing register and have no restrictions on practice.
