Job summary
The post could be appointed either as a preceptorship towards an 8a role for the right applicant wishing to develop from a band 7 or be appointed at 8a. Responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly.

Engaging with the systems around the young person, and their family, to facilitate their healthcare journey, maximising their physical and mental health outcomes?
We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate clinical psychologists who thrive in a fast-paced setting, engaging and working collaboratively with a wide range of other professionals. We value openness, compassion, bravery, flexibility and curiosity in helping us meet the clinical and operational demands of this busy service. Previous experience of working in an acute setting, and/or working with children & young people with complex physical/mental health presentations in the context of multi-disciplinary teams are highly desirable attributes.
These vacancies will be attached to The Health in Mind Team and also attached to the Paediatric Intensive Care Team (PIC) here at Birmingham Womens and Childrens Hospital. We encourage flexible ways of working and prioritise wellbeing and effectiveness as a key part of job planning.
Main duties of the job
We are a large team and there are many opportunities for supervision, leadership roles in projects and service developments, peer support and personal development. Benefit from a range of therapeutic approaches and expertise within the team (e.g. CBT, ACT, CFT, Systemic, NVR, SFT, EMDR, Hypnosis, Neuropsychology) and good links with the University of Birmingham clinical training programme.
This post provides a great opportunity to consolidate and expand on previous experience of working within health settings and/or children, young people and families. The job role provides a variety of ways of working within a dynamic medical setting including 1:1 therapy with in and out-patients, working with families, groups for parents and young people, consultations via clinics and lots of opportunities for indirect working through multi-disciplinary teams, contributing to the psychological care planning and supporting/ developing psychological mindedness within teams.
