Senior Pharmacist - Neonatal services working on behalf of West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join the team at Birmingham Womens and Childrens NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated pharmacist to develop a Network Pharmacist role for the West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with Pharmacy staff providing clinical pharmacy services throughout all the neonatal units within the West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network. They will be expected to lead on projects relating to medicines, identify opportunities where pharmacy can support better clinical care through better use of resources, share learning and improve medication safety. They will be expected to develop and implement improved clinical pathways and enhanced communication around medication. One of the ways will be to develop educational resources to build on expertise and confidence within the West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network to support better medication use in neonates. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the specialised clinical pharmacy service to the neonatal unit at Birmingham Womens Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Our families are at the heart of what we do and we would like to develop enhanced ways of supporting parents/ carers to know more about their babys medicines. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing improved parent/carer information so that we can support all our families throughout the West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.
BWC Pharmacy Department is a busy department dealing with a wide range of specialties from general paediatrics to highly specialised services and womens health. We were awarded Outstanding Clinical Team of the Year 2021 and have a high profile across the Trust. We have strong links with academia and strongly support individuals at all levels looking to progress education and research.
The post holder will be based at Birmingham Womens Hospital but expected to visit all neonatal units within the West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network and participate in regular core duty rotas as appropriate.
This is a 12 month fixed term post from the date of commencement.
