Job summary
An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic, dynamic and self-motivated professional to join our clinical trials team at the Chelsea site of the Royal Marsden, one is on a permanent basis and the other is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.
You will be part of a team consisting of Pharmacists, Technicians and Assistants, who are always striving for excellence in all aspects of our work. We are working collaboratively as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure we always deliver outstanding care to our patients.
This is an exciting time to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Clinical Trials Department. Our service is built around providing a high-quality service to our patients and staff of the Trust. Our newly built aseptic and clinical trial areas at the Chelsea site allows us to take part in ground-breaking research and provide pioneering treatment including gene therapy and CAR-T treatments.
The hospital has recently introduced the EPIC digital health record system and we are looking to use the full capabilities of this system to support the pharmacy teams and become a more efficient and truly paperless department.

Main duties of the job
The Job Description outlines the roles of the Technician, Clinical Trials. You will be expected to assist with co-ordination of the day-to-day running of our clinical trials portfolio at the Royal Marsden under the direction of the Chief Technician Clinical Trials, ensuring a standard approach to the IMP management and dispensing of clinical trials.
You will assist with ensuring that trials run smoothly; this will include dispensing prescriptions, ensuring accurate stock control, record keeping, and drug accountability of clinical trials is maintained. You will also be liaising within the necessary multi-disciplinary teams.

- Accurate dispensing in clinical trial dispensary as required as per weekly rota.
- To provide timely and accurate record keeping of dispensing clinical trial documentation in the pharmacy site files
- Maintain the Clinical Trials service in accordance with current UK Clinical Trial Regulations, the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) regulation 2004 (EU Clinical Trial Directive) and all updates, together with ICH GCP guidelines and departmental procedures and ensure provision of a high-quality service to patients and staff at the Royal Marsden.

- Support, update and maintain any relevant pharmacy clinical trial databases (internal GCP training, EDGE).

Essential
- Educated to 5 GCSC's grade A-C (9-4) including English and mathematics or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or relevant GPhC accredited Training Programme equivalent to Level 2
Desirable
- NVQ level 3 Pharmacy services /BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
- Current certified ICH-GCP training
- Background in oncology
- Good understanding of medical terminology

- Previous experience of working in a hospital or community pharmacy pharmacy
