Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Trials Unit Urology Chelsea (CTUUC).

The team specialises in prostate, bladder, and urothelial cancers and works within a highly regarded, busy multidisciplinary team. Recognised as pioneers in the management of urological cancers, the team delivers both clinical care and innovative research.The post holder will manage their own caseload of patients participating in clinical trials, with support from the wider research and clinical teams. Previous oncology experience is essential, and clinical research experience would be advantageous. Applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent.You will work in accordance with clinical trial guidelines and policies, ensuring high standards of practice and compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). The successful candidate will demonstrate a flexible approach to their role, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication, administrative, and IT skills are essential, along with a positive attitude and openness to new initiatives. The role requires a self-directed practitioner who is able to motivate and support others.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work under the supervision of the lead research nurse and has a key role to play in the day-to-day running of clinical trials within the Trust. These trials may be related to anti-cancer treatment (e.g. chemotherapy, radiotherapy, biological therapy, immunotherapy or surgery), symptom management or some other aspect of cancer care, such as screening. Central to the role are the recruitment, education and monitoring of patients entering a clinical trial. Working closely with the principal investigator and members of the multidisciplinary team, you will support patients who choose to participate in clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as the patients' advocate. An important aspect of the role is the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies. The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the wellbeing of the patients is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research.
