We are looking to recruit either a Specialist ACC (Band 6) or an experienced Clinical Coder (Band 5) committed to obtaining ACC qualification. Based in Sutton, the successful Clinical Coder (Band 5) will be fully supported with internal training sessions as well as external courses towards their ACC qualification. Specialist ACCs (Band 6) also receive extensive on the job training and regular post-audit feedback to further develop their coding skills. The successful candidate will be offered the option of working 40% of their contracted hours remotely (working from home) upon completion of their local induction and on the job training. The Trust has a flexible and remote working policy which is available upon request.

You will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and enjoy working with colleagues at all levels. You will be responsible for accurate day-to-day diagnosis and procedure coding using ICD10 and OPCS4 classifications, ensuring deadlines are met and coded data meets our high standards.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will serve as the Specialist Accredited Clinical Coder responsible for day-to-day coding and management of un-coded activity in assigned clinical units / specialties in order to meet strict deadlines. They will be required to assist the Clinical Coding Service Manager in clinical coding audits, quality assurance and supervision of less experienced coding staff. Responsibilities will include ensuring that clinical coding is accurate, complete and timely, and that the clinical coding conforms to national standards. This role will require great attention to detail and a logical thought process as well as vast amount of knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
