Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual with proven administrative skills to join the Medical Day Unit administrative team at the Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea. This role will encompass the scheduling of patient appointments, supporting patient scheduling queries, front of house and other general administrative duties for our busy day unit. The Royal Marsden NHS Trust is the largest cancer centre in Europe with a commitment to patient care, and an international reputation for research. The Medical Day Unit is open Monday to Friday and provides Anti-Cancer treatment to patients from in and around London. You will need to be a good communicator, work well within a team and can demonstrate good time management and organisational skills. The successful candidate will also need to be adaptable and flexible.

Main duties of the job

The Administrator/Scheduler is an integral member of the Medical Day Unit team, under the supervision of the MDU Admin Manager and Day Units Scheduling Manager for Cancer Services. The post holder will coordinate all administrative aspects of the Day Care Services including data collection, reception, and clerical duties. The working days will be Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:00 or 09:00 - 17:00.

  • To deal with all new patient chemotherapy referrals from clinicians, ensuring that the first chemotherapy treatment is scheduled within Cancer Waiting Times targets.
  • To liaise directly with the patient regarding their treatment, providing information and reassurance and managing patient expectations around the chemotherapy experience.
