Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an experienced professionally registered cancer nurse or allied health professional who can demonstrate a commitment to enhancing patient care through excellent education. An individual with energy, creativity, and expertise, to help our students develop as cancer professionals. We are seeking candidates who has expertise and experience in cancer and palliative care, who will play a prominent role in the development of future cancer healthcare professional through excellent education.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to help drive forward the School's strategic vision: to transform cancer care by inspiring, challenging, and developing the next generation of innovative health professionals through outstanding education.

As part of a dedicated team of experienced Lecturer Practitioners, you will collaborate closely with Programme and Module Leads to deliver high-quality teaching across our post-registration and postgraduate programmes particularly in the acute and SACT area of expertise. This includes bespoke short courses and study days, offered both in-person and via virtual learning platforms.

In this role, you will play a key part in shaping student learning by leading, coordinating, and delivering validated modules. You will also have the opportunity to engage in clinical practice, contribute to scholarly activity, and participate in research--ensuring your teaching remains grounded in the latest evidence and best practice.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Health Care Professional.
  • Cancer qualification

Desirable

  • Fellow of the HEA
  • Post- graduate teaching qualification (preferably also recognised by professional body)
  • MSc /MA in an appropriate subject (or working towards)

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years post registration experience in a relevant clinical setting.

Desirable

  • Experience of teaching in Higher Education or Clinical Practice setting.
  • Experience of acute oncology.
  • Advanced Communication skills training
  • Experience of research and scholarship activity/project management related to education and/or cancer care.
  • Experience of clinical leadership role during career.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge/experience of teaching in a variety of settings.
  • Current knowledge of care of individuals with cancer undergoing SACT.
  • Current knowledge of health/education policies/standards.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of research methods and processes.
