Job summary
The Royal Marsden NHS Trust is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe with a national and international reputation for high quality patient care, research, development and education. Our Laboratories are situated on 3 sites; two in Central London (Chelsea and Cavendish Sq) and one at Sutton in Surrey.
There is now a full time, 1-year fixed term, vacancy for a newly qualified, HCPC registered, Band 5 BMS in the Biochemistry Department based at our Chelsea site. Rotations to Cavendish Square and Sutton may be required according to service needs. The successful candidate will be expected to rotate through all area of Biochemistry developing their knowledge and experience as a BMS and with the support of the Seniors and Clinical teams.
Our main analytical platforms in Biochemistry (Chelsea) are the Ortho Vitro 5600. Previous experience using these analysers might be advantageous, but training will be provided if required.
The successful candidate may be required to participate in our on-call system after extensive training and once sufficient exposure has been achieved.
The Blood Sciences laboratories have accreditation by UKAS under ISO15189. The Trust and department encourage and support continuing professional and personal development and Pathology runs a CPD Club.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for carrying out analytical work. The post holder will rotate through all sections of the department. The key working relationships will be with staff in Biochemistry, Blood Transfusion and Haematology, but the post holder will be expected to liaise with staff throughout Pathology and the Trust.
