Job summary
The key aim of this post will be to work together with the existing Consultant team to deliver a high-quality clinical service. The post holder will contribute to the Unit's programs of research.
The Trust is the largest training centre in clinical and medical oncology in the country. In clinical oncology the Trust collaborates with other training centres, through the Pan-Thames Training Committee, to provide training in all aspects of clinical oncology necessary for the FRCR and the CCT. All consultants are expected to be involved in the training of, Specialist Trainees, Specialist Registrars and visiting trainees as Clinical Supervisors, Educational Supervisors and tumour site specific educational leads. In addition, collaboration in training programmes for radiographers, nurses and medical physicists is expected.
Main duties of the job
o To participate in and support the multidisciplinary care team which includes Clinical and Medical Oncologists, Surgeons, the relevant junior team, Specialist Nursing Staff, Radiographers, Palliative Care and Psychological Support.o Contribution to research activity is expected.o To participate in each of the multidisciplinary meetings reviewing all relevant histology and radiology.o To take part in the ongoing development of joint protocols between Royal Marsden Hospital as part of the Joint Cancer Centre with Kingston, and within the wider RM Partners.o As a senior member of the medical team, the postholder, will provide clinical leadership and support for the effective development of the services and to attend the relevant operational meetingso The postholder will contribute to the development of the departmental objectives and business plan and will manage resources within the approved plan. The consultant will be part of the Cancer Services Division and will be responsible to the Divisional Director for Cancer Services o To participate in the Consultant Clinical Oncology on-call rota (approximately 1 in 30 weeks non-resident on-call)
