The Trust has an outstanding reputation for performance and has delivered a substantial capital programme over the last 5 years (circ £30m p.a.), this has significantly upgraded large areas of the estate and further strategic redevelopment is planned.
We are looking for an experienced leader in Estates Operations and Maintenance to join our team and lead on driving our vision to be an outstanding and innovative Estates service, providing a safe and high-quality environment for everyone, driving positive change and improving patient care.Your leadership will be key to delivering a safe, effective, and compliant service, ensuring continuous improvement and development of the Trust's Estate. You will lead the Estates maintenance, Business and Governance, Digital Asset, Fire Safety and the Sustainability teams. The role covers all sites owned and occupied for the Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
You will provide leadership, strategic vision, and management of the Estates team, also incorporating financial management, risk identification and mitigation, development of a robust estates team and supporting wider Trust teams in business cases and capital projects. The role will be accountable for estates governance, maintenance, health and safety.
Main duties of the job
To use professional and sound business judgement to lead and manage the Estates Department and the entire built environment for a global leading cancer specialist Trust. Deputise for the Director of Projects & Estates during periods of absence and provide sound Estates advice and contribute to corporate decisions on major estate strategic and operational plans.
The role encompasses the management of the Trust Fire and estates H&S compliance, Energy and Utilities management, Property Management, delegated capital budget typically £1.5m for backlog, refurbishment, life cycle and all Operational Estates services which directly supports patient and staff safety and global research. Operational Estates which encompass safe execution of planned, reactive, minor new works /projects and emergency maintenance. Protect the long-term interests of the Trust's Estate and adapt the Estates Department to continuously support the Trust's needs.
Responsible for leading the Estates Department and develop close partnership working with Capital Projects, Trust Divisional Directors /Heads and other Trust stakeholders.
Be a key member of Trust strategic working groups and the incident team and there may be a requirement for the post holder to be hands on.

- Professional knowledge acquired through relevant built environment degree + specialist knowledge estates & facilities management, Engineering, Surveying or Architecture acquired through formal courses and experience to MSc or equivalent in Engineering and/or Building Surveying/Architecture
- Chartered Professional Engineer, Surveyor or architect with membership of a recognised professional Institution incorporated by Royal Charter (i.e. IMechE, IET, CIBSE)

- ISO 9001 lead Auditor
- MBA or further management qualification
EXPERIENCE

- Significant previous experience of leading and managing operational estates encompassing corporate budget and legislative compliance
