Job summary

Following successful career progression of the recent post holder, we are delighted to recruit a Band 5 or a Band 6 registered nurse that could complement/ enhance our cohesive and supportive interventional radiology (IR) team.We welcome applications from both experienced IR nurses or any registered nurse with acute hospital experienced that has honed their clinical, critical thinking and prioritisation skills within a busy clinical setting. This is an exciting opportunity to move into a different type of nursing that would give you the confidence to develop your autonomy in making decisions whilst working in a collaborative team.In this round of recruitment, there will be a different shortlisting criteria for Band 5 progression and Band 6 on appointment. Main duties of the job

  • Be able to rotate within the different nursing specialities of interventional radiology practice and safely perform the clinical skills required in the assigned area (e.g. pre-admission, scrubbing, nurse led-sedation, shift coordination)
  • Be able to work in a multidisciplinary team using compassionate communication skills, flexibility to meet the service needs using safe and efficient prioritisation skills with taking into account the RMH patients at the heart of every decision.
  • Be able to work in a busy / fast-paced clinical environment requiring agility and standing longer periods continuously whilst wearing a lead gown.

  • Unrestricted NMC registration to practice

Desirable

  • Evidence of continued professional education/ qualification related to interventional radiology / oncology nursing
  • IV cannulation / venepuncture certification
  • Advanced cardiac life support certification

Experience

Essential

  • Acute hospital clinical experience in oncology, medical or surgical speciality to be confident and competent in using the required skills to do the job
  • Intravenous drug administration, drug calculations, venepuncture and cannulation

Desirable

  • Clinical experience working in all Interventional Radiology nursing disciplines (e.g. scrubbing, nurse-led sedation, pre and post IR care)
  • Experience working within similar environments to Interventional Radiology (e.g. theatres, endoscopy, cath lab, CCU)
