Job summary

With the current post holder due to have a short career break (for 6 months), we are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative registered Pharmacy Technician with the ability to work independently, meet targets, deadlines and communicate effectively with patients and the diverse team of health care professionals, to deliver a high quality patient focused medicine management service. The post holder will be an experienced Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician, who can demonstrate broad hospital-based experience and application of recognised leadership training. A keen interest and experience of improving patient safety along with a proven ability to identify and meet training needs of others and motivate staff are essential.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the medicines management service provision to patients within private care at the Marsden and, in conjunction with the lead pharmacist and chief pharmacy technician - clinical services, delivering an efficient and accurate clinical pharmacy service to the private Day Units, inpatient wards and outpatient clinics.Registration as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is essential as well as holding the ACPT accreditation and a nationally recognised medicines optimisation accreditation course.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for leading on the operational delivery of the medicines optimisation services across clinical services in private care (including day care, outpatients and inpatients), with the support of the team of clinical technicians.
  • To be responsible for the delivery of education and training on medicines optimisation to staff across the clinical services, ensuring they conduct duties within legislation and local policies / procedures.
  • To support and drive the implementation of initiatives to improve patient experience related to medicines.
  • To continually appraise the service provided to identify new ways to optimise medication pathways.
  • To deputise for the Chief Technician - Clinical services when necessary.
  • To support other band 6 lead clinical pharmacy technicians on the operational delivery of the medicines optimisation services across clinical services, with the support of the team of clinical technicians
