Applications are invited for newly created Specialist Doctor Posts in Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at The Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with a proposed start dateof February2025 (start date can be negotiated).The positions are all Royal College of Anaesthetists approved posts.
Prospective applicants will be joining a well-established team of doctors in the role, and a friendly, supportive department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine. The Specialist Doctors will have autonomy, relevant to their areas of expertise, and will be well supported by the Trust. The Trust has a SAS Tutor, and a SAS Advocate in post and a SAS Representative on the BMA Local Negotiating Committee to help ensure SAS Doctors are an integral part of the Trust, are given excellent learning and career development opportunities, are well supported in terms of their working environment and broader well-being.
Main duties of the job
This post consists of approximately one day a week dedicated to elective theatre work (breast, sarcoma, plastics) primarily based on our Sutton site of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. The resident on call commitment will be to cover the 3 bedded critical care unit on our Sutton site as well as providing leadership and supporting the Critical Care Outreach Service. The weekend on call commitment is 1 in 6 weekends. Weekday on call will be one night per week with the commensurate time off post on call. The post is 10 PAs on average per week of which up to 1.5 SPAs per week is allocated for Continuous Professional Development. Leadership, educational and other roles are encouraged with additional SPA time available through Job Planning to reflect the workload these roles will require.
You should have full GMC registration with a licence to practice, a minimum of 12 years medical experience since primary qualification, at least 6 years' experience as SAS grade or equivalent in Anaesthesia, of which no less than 6 months in Intensive Care Medicine and be able to demonstrate that you meet, as a minimum, all the essential person specifications as set out in the Royal College Anaesthetists Generic Person Specification for Specialist Doctor in Anaesthesia.
