Job summary

The role of Risk and Resilience Manager (EPRR) is a key role within the Trust responsible for Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response. The successful candidate will act as the competent person and subject matter expert providing advice on EPRR and Business Continuity to the Trust. They will provide strategic leadership and direction on resilience and planning and have responsibility for strategic and operational development to ensure a safe and effective response to incidents and emergencies. Plans to achieve the strategy will be underpinned by the delivery of short to medium term objectives managed through a dynamic work program monitored by the EPRR Committee.

You must have excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, be adaptable, flexible, and innovative. You must have the ability to work on your own as well as within a team and be highly motivated to deliver excellence. The post will be based at either the Chelsea or Sutton site of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, however as the specialties are cross site, the post holder is also expected to work at the Chelsea, Sutton, Kingston and Cavendish Square sites.

Main duties of the job

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust (RM) regards its responsibility for emergency preparedness, resilience and response arrangements and associated processes in line with the Civil Contingencies Act as a matter of prime importance.

The Risk and Resilience Manager (EPRR) will act as the competent person and subject matter expert providing advice on EPRR and Business Continuity to the Trust. They will provide strategic leadership and direction on resilience and planning and have responsibility for strategic and operational development to ensure a safe and effective response to incidents and emergencies. Plans to achieve the strategy will be underpinned by the delivery of short to medium term objectives managed through a dynamic work program monitored by the EPRR Committee.

The Risk and Resilience Manager (EPRR) is required to interpret relevant legislation and guidance in order to develop and implement Trust wide policies and procedures on behalf of the Trust Board and Executive Directors. They will be responsible for demonstrating that Trust compliance with the National EPRR Framework 2022 and ISO 22301:2019 standard through programmes of risk assessment and auditing and ensuring that monitoring of performance is undertaken with appropriate expertise to deliver professional and reliable advice at strategic and operational levels. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience of working within an organisation of comparable size and complexity.

1. Respond to new national guidance, which will influence emergency / business continuity planning and ensure this guidance is incorporated into the emergency planning process.

  • Degree level qualification or experience gained through at least 4 years relevant employment
  • Post graduate diploma in Emergency Planning

Experience

  • More than 4 years' experience in the management of EPRR
  • Awareness of current regulations, frameworks and standards
  • Experience of working in the NHS or a healthcare environment
  • Ability to effectively implement and deliver training programmes.
  • Corporate training experience in complex risk management issues such as risk assessment and incident investigation
  • Experience in undertaking complex risk assessments
