Job summary

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust attributes great importance to the Education, Training and Workforce Development of its Pharmacy department. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join as our Lead Pharmacist for Education and Training.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self- motivated pharmacist to lead our Pharmacy Education and Training team, working across all hospital sites and liaising with external providers. Our team deliver education and training programmes for pharmacy staff and trainees at all levels from pre-registration training to non-medical prescribing and beyond. The role also includes teaching 3rd year (Level 6) and 4th year (Level 7) undergraduate students at Kingston University as well as designing and co-ordinating their clinical pharmacy placements at The Royal Marsden.

You must have significant hospital pharmacy experience involving the application of clinical pharmacy skills as well as having experience of teaching / supervising MPharm undergraduates, trainee pharmacists and qualified pharmacy professionals. This role requires the ability to work effectively as part of various teams, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate yourself and others to achieve common departmental and Trust wide objectives.

Main duties of the job

o To lead the pharmacy E&T team and advise the pharmacy leadership team on E&T strategy for the pharmacy department.o To provide one day per week on-site teaching for Kingston University MPharm students, create course materials and design and co-ordinate clinical placements for Level 6 (3rd year) and Level 7 (4th year) students.o To develop and co-ordinate the rotational programme for RMH trainee pharmacists and support their designated supervisors throughout the training year.o To manage and support CNWL and RBHH external trainee pharmacists who visit The Royal Marsden as part of their foundation training year and develop and co-ordinate their placement timetables with the appropriate clinical and non-clinical teams.
