Job summary

The Allied Health Professions (AHP) Workforce Education & Training Lead will be responsible for supporting the Chief AHP in leading the strategic development and implementation of the Trust's AHP workforce agenda. Working across the system, the post holder will work closely with existing internal structures including clinical groups, Learning and Development department (L&D), AHP Stratetigc Leads, Practice Educators and AHP networks, and external organisations, including Health Education England (HEE) and the South East London AHP Faculty.

Main duties of the job

This role will be instrumental in ensuring that the AHP workforce is recruited and developed to contribute to and lead in the provision of outstanding, evidence based patient care and professional development. The post holder will support the development of solutions for expanding AHP clinical placement capacity and lead the implementation of these ideas. The post holder will also have a portfolio of work programmes to lead and develop further programmes of work that support the development of the AHP workforce across the Trust, including apprenticeships, return to practice and new role development, such as preceptorship programmes.

Essential

  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy, Dietetics, SLT or Occupational Therapy with Health and Care Professions Council registration

Desirable

  • Master's in relevant area or working at this high academic level
  • Post-grad study days/courses in oncology/education

Experience / Skills

Essential

  • Significant clinical experience in the NHS
  • Expertise in professional practice and able to demonstrate credibility
  • Exceptional skills and advanced levels of clinical judgement, knowledge and experience to underpin and progress the delivery of a workforce education and planning agenda
  • Ability to manage change and contain conflict ensuring resolution with positive outcomes
  • Negotiation skills to motivate and inspire others

Desirable

  • Proven experience of staff education and training
  • Experience of joint working with academic institutions supporting AHP staff training
  • Experience of managing and coordinating student placement

Knowledge / Expertise

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills demonstrating the use of a variety of media
  • Ability to lead within the profession and develop multi professional working in the organisation and across organisational boundaries
