Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a leadership role, reporting to the directly to the Chief Nurse and working closely with senior leaders, clinicians and managers across the Trust to ensure that services are safe and effective. They will create an environment, which promotes and supports patient safety and high quality care. The role is responsible for the management of quality, risk and patient safety across the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. This encompasses clinical effectiveness, risk and incident management, learning from incidents and compliance.The Deputy Director of Patient Safety and Clinical Assurance will provide strategic direction to the Trusts patient safety team providing expert advice and guidance throughout the Trust. The post holder will lead and deliver on a range of patient safety & quality projects and contributing to the wider Trust Quality Strategy, Risk Strategy and compliance with the Care Quality Commissions standards.Advise the Trust Board of any risk, patient safety concerns which would have the potential to impact on CQC compliance requirements.The role has direct management responsibilities of the Quality and Risk team consisting of Patient Safety, Risk, Complaints, PALS and Bereavement, Patient Information, Clinical Audit & Effectiveness, Quality Improvement, Accreditations & Compliance, Patient Experience, EPRR, Health & Safety, Document Control.

  • Educated to Master's degree or equivalent level of experience working at a senior level in risk and assurance
  • Evidence of further professional, academic, business or management study to support delivery of senior role

Desirable

  • Hold valid professional qualification and active registration with the NMC, GMC or HCPC
  • Patient Safety specialist course or willingness to work towards

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing high-level, Trust-wide complex regulatory functions.
  • Experience of managing high-level, Trust wide clinical risk and clinical audit.
  • Experience of leading large and complex teams who deliver on objectives.
