Job summary
This advert is for a fixed term Contracts Assistant position (maternity cover). The post holder will be responsible for the efficient processing and monitoring of high cost chemotherapy drug requests and other contract exclusions. The post holder will be responsible for assessing and answering queries from Commissioners regarding Low Value Activity. The post holder will understand and interpret NICE guidance relevant to the Trust and keep abreast of cancer drug policy developments. The post holder will also provide support to the Interim Senior Contracts Manager. This post would ideally suit someone who has contractual knowledge, a good understanding of the NHS England commissioning policies, strong communication skills, able to use their own initiative and work well on their own as well as part of a team. They must be able to work well under pressure with excellent prioritisation and time management skills.
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for processing all Cancer Drug Fund applications and B* applications from clinicians within the Trust. This will involve liaising with commissioning managers at the relevant CCGs / NHS England to secure funding for individual patient treatments.
- Manage the Individual Funding Request process. This will involve liaising with clinicians and pharmaceutical advisers to ensure that commissioners have all information needed for a funding outcome to be reached. Communicate with the NHS England and CCG IFR teams with regards to applications and funding decisions.
- Record all drug authorisations and enter authorised drug doses onto the hospital system each month to assist with the monthly drugs reporting process.
- Develop and maintain prior approval systems to ensure that funding is secured prior to treatment for cross-border patients and advise on funding issues when these arise.
- Ensuring that all RMH patients have funding secured for their treatment.
