Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist – Acute Oncology/Melanoma & Renal

Applications are invited for a 3.5PA Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist - Acute Oncology / Melanoma and Renal Cancer to work on the Sutton site of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust for 12 months.

This role is to start as soon as possible.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to play a pivotal role in the Acute Oncology Service at the Royal Marsden for all patients. The post holder will be required to participate in the out-of-hours medical oncology consultant on-call rota. This post holder will work in collaboration with the other AOS consultant post in Chelsea providing:

• Management of acutely unwell medical patients
• Management of patients in the Clinical Assessment Unit
• Leadership on the co-ordination and integration of patient care with surrounding Trusts who may be caring for our patients on both an emergency and elective basis
• Telephone support to the Royal Marsden Macmillan Hotline
• Development for the way the Trust provides inpatient management for long stay medical patient
• A key role in junior doctor educational development and leadership

Tumour specific commitments will be hosted within the Skin and Renal units and consist of 1 melanoma and renal cell carcinoma clinic per week with associated MDMs. There would typically be around 50 patients seen in this clinic per week, combined with 2-4 new patients and the remainder follow-up and on-treatment.
