Job summary
The aim of this role is to assist the GIANT (what does this acronym stand for?) to provide high quality care to patients. The MDT and Clinic Coordinator will provide MDT and clinic coordination for the GIANT service. They will be the main contact responsible for ensuring that all patients have all the, histology, imaging, test results and medical information needed for their appointments and follow ups.
Main duties of the job
- To be the single point of contact for the unit to the GIANT team for tracking information and queries relating to MDT
- To maintain a record of patient tests requested from organisations and external laboratories for testing and follow up for results within expected turnaround times as necessary.
- To be responsible for maintaining an effective sample/information tracking process using the Trust Cancer Waits and Patient Tracking System.

- To be responsible for the timetabling and communication of MDT meetings in conjunction with the lead clinician for the MDT, ensuring that an appropriate venue and/or virtual meeting are booked and administrative arrangements are made and to troubleshoot any problems which may occur.
- To be responsible for arranging circulation of agendas of patient information for discussion at each meeting. Communicate the deadline for the referral of patient for discussion each week to the appropriate medical staff
- To use the NHS Summary Care Record to confirm and trace a patients NHS number and ensure all MDT patients are identified by the NHS number
- To register patients by their NHS number to allow addition to the MDT process prior to referrals being formally accepted and to liaise with the triaging Consultant to ensure that all relevant patient medical information needed for a consultation is requested at receipt of referral.
