Job summary
The Royal Marsden Private Care has dedicated private in-patient, diagnostics and ambulatory treatment services located on the Chelsea site. As a specialist cancer centre, we have the clinical expertise, facilities, and technology to provide leading private care service. Leadership qualities across the clinical and non-clinical aspects of an international service model will be required to ensure service excellence, which exceeds patient / customer expectations. Chelsea Private Care Services will link in with the three other hospital sites Sutton, Cavendish Square, and a Medical Day Unit at Kingston Hospital.
Main duties of the job
1.1. Be responsible for all aspects of daily operational management of the private care areas Sutton, delivering key performance targets and quality measures.
1.2. Provide clinical leadership to the nursing and administrative teams, maintaining credibility through practice and provide a high quality and safe patient service, which exceeds patient expectations.
1.3. Liaise effectively with members of the multi-Disciplinary health care team to achieve a co-ordinated specialist service across all Trust sites.
1.4. Support the major service improvement and transformation programmes across the Trust.
1.5. Lead and manage the nursing teams within private care areas. This will include developing and supporting the nurses, continually reviewing their remit within Advanced Nursing Practice.
1.6. To manage the nursing budget in a cost-effective way, working closely with the Service Manager, Director of Operations, DND and clinical leads to achieve this.
1.7. Advise the DND on matters pertaining to the provision of nursing services within private care areas.

2.1 Provide and sustain a high-quality specialist nursing service to patients and their families within own area of expertise.
2.2 Lead on the formulation and revision of relevant policies and to regularly review these following change/implementation. To work within the procedures and policies of the Trust.
2.3 Continuously review the Nursing Service to ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention, so that patients referred and supported by the appropriate specialist.
2.4 Where appropriate, to participate in the establishment/maintenance and support of nurse led clinics whereby the problems and needs of patients and their carers are appropriately channelled. To review the effectiveness of these clinics on a regular basis.
2.5 Supporting the Clinical Site Practitioner team to co-ordinate private in-patient bed allocations
2.6 Provide support and advice to patients and their carers relating to all diagnostic and treatment pathways.
2.7 To liaise with relevant members of the multi-disciplinary team to optimise the smooth transition through the various aspects of the treatment pathway.
2.8 To comply with and participate in the Trusts framework for clinical governance within the department area.
2.9 Set goals and benchmark standards of care. Develop tools to improve the quality of the service and co-ordinate clinical services across the department.
2.10 Ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to the Trust standard (including electronic records).
2.11 To actively promote a healthy lifestyle for patients and staff appreciating national strategy requirements.
