Job summary
The Clinical Genomics department at the Royal Marsden comprises both translational research and diagnostic laboratories, the postholder would be integral in supporting both areas. An expert in clinical bioinformatics, the postholder will actively lead in development and validation of bioinformatics solutions whilst encouraging the development of more junior staff in these areas. The postholder must maintain strong bioinformatic, scientific, and analytical skills. The postholder will primarily work with next generation sequencing data (from short and long read sequencing platforms) along with other applications including but not limit to Cloud computing and data visualization.The post holder will be expected to work with both Clinical scientists and Translational Scientist to lead the transition from research to service for new approaches to diagnosis as they arise, until such time as they are fully evaluated and established. This will also entail contribution to platform development, service evaluation, and national training and service review as required. They will also be expected to contribute to publications arising from this work, and to present at national and international meetings as required, or supervise other members of the team to do this.
