Consultant Urological Surgeon
The Royal Marsden urology unit provides a comprehensive urological cancer service to patients in west and Southwest London. The unit has a high international and national profile and as such manages a significant number of referrals for specialist care and second opinions.
The post will support the Royal Marsden's objective to deliver precision medicine, personalised care and to support the Royal Marsden's ongoing ambition to remain at the forefront of cutting-edge research, education, and academic excellence in all specialties.
We are pleased to invite applications to the above full time, substantive post from suitably trained Urological Surgeons with an interest in Robotic Prostate surgery. The Urology Surgery Unit at The Royal Marsden provides a comprehensive service and is delivered by a consultant team with excellent junior doctor and specialised nursing support. It is envisaged that the successful applicant will help to enable the Trust to continue to provide excellent Surgical work in Prostate and Urological Tumours.
Main duties of the job
This post has been devised to support the surgical team who currently provide specialist services to patients in southwest London and supra-regional specialist services to patients from the south and southeast of England.The successful applicant will have an interest in diagnostic services for prostate cancer, the management of early-stage disease as well as general urologic/robotic surgery.
The job is to support the department temporarily in a flexible way while we reconfigure services, andthe appointee will be provided with senior support and mentoring by surgeons.
The post will undertake work on the Fulham Road site, as well as Epsom St Helier Hospitals, whilst working as an integral member of the Urology Surgery Department. Candidates should be eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council and possess a CCT from the Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent or be within 6 months of attaining it. The post will work on the Chelsea site of The Royal Marsden Hospital, as well as Epsom St Helier Hospitals.

Essential
- Full and specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- If an applicant is UK trained, they must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
- If an applicant is non-UK trained, they will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
Desirable

- Extensive clinical experience in the surgery of urological cancer. Specifically prostate cancer but bladder cancer also desirable
- Extensive experience in robotic prostatectomy including mentoring of colleagues and trainees

- Undertaken personal research in urology
