Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and experienced Counsellors/ Psychologists/ Psychotherapists to join Psychological Services for Staff at The Royal Marsden Hospital. We have 2.0 WTE vacancy and are looking for staff who can work 3-5 days a week at our Chelsea and/ or Sutton site. We want clinicians who practice from an exploratory (e.g. person centred, existential, psychodynamic) approach or from a CBT/ 3rd wave CBT/ systemic approach. This post would suit clinicians with experience of working with staff groups delivering short term, evidence-based therapy, reflective practice groups and critical incident stress management. An understanding of the pressures NHS staff, especially those working within oncology, is essential. There are excellent supervision/ CPD opportunities. The posts are permanent. Main duties of the job

  • Participate in the promotion of the Psychological Services for Staff across the organisation to maximise awareness and to ensure equity of access for all in the organisation.
  • Develop relationships across the hospital and wards to provide opportunities for informal/ ad hoc psychological interventions.
  • Maintain a physical 1:1 therapy environment that is therapeutically appropriate.
  • Provide short term confidential therapy for employees of the Royal Marsden who self-refer; or are referred by Occupational Health.
  • Assess all individuals who come for psychological therapy, referring on to Occupational Health, General Practitioner, other external services if appropriate.

  • For counselling/ clinical psychologist with experience of working in an acute health care setting oPost-Graduate Doctoral level training in Clinical/ Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), accredited by the BPS oAND Registration with Health Care Professions Council
