Job summary
This is a really exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the cancer division at University Hospitals Sussex. We are the second largest cancer provider in the country and have a new hospital being built and due to open in 2029.

- This role is a key member of the cancer divisions booking team.
- Working within a group of admin staff to manage referrals for anti cancer treatments, scheduling appointments on an electronic diary, and communication of appointments to patients or their families.
- Being a primary point of contact for internal and external services accessing the cancer treatment unit.
- Being responsible for the timely booking and co-ordination in line with national cancer KPI.

Main duties of the job

Act as the single point of contact for the patientinitiatingappropriate responsesbased on clear protocols and frameworks and escalate anything that cannot be managed within the scope of the role

Co-ordinate the patient's SACT treatment, communicating with other teams tofacilitatesafe and effective transition of care between services.

Communicate clearly,sensitivelyand effectively with patients, family members, healthprofessionalsand other health sector staff.

Maintain a calm and sensitive approach when dealing with people in distress incorporatingappropriate communicationskills to reduce distress and resolve conflict.

Adapt their communication style and method to best support patient preference and need.

Demonstrate the importance of cultural factors when communicating with people

Write andmaintainclear,accuraterecords of patient contact and information in a variety of formats.

Communicate and signpost patients toappropriate needs-relatedsupport and information.

Liaise daily with Aseptic pharmacy, making necessary scheduling changes to accommodate dose reductions and pharmacy servicing
