Job summary
This post offers the appointee broad and in-depth experience across obstetrics and gynaecology, with particular emphasis on surgical training. There will be opportunities to gain hands-on experience in minimal access and open benign gynaecological procedures, including operative laparoscopy, laparoscopic hysterectomy, abdominal hysterectomy, and surgery for endometriosis. In addition, the post provides significant exposure to the Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) service, ensuring comprehensive training in the management of patients referred via this pathway.
Main duties of the job
This post will provide the appointee with extensive experience in the Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) service. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the appointee will gain the skills and confidence required to eventually manage their own USC clinic.
There will also be opportunities to train in other ambulatory services, including outpatient hysteroscopy and early pregnancy scanning. Support will be available to complete the Benign Gynaecology SITM.
In addition, sessions in day surgery and main theatres are included to further develop and consolidate benign gynaecological surgical skills.
